Land Preparation
The land is chosen on loose and fertile soil with good drainage. It has access to sunlight for 6 – 8 hours a day.
- Choose the right location:
We ensure that the location chosen has loose, fertile soil with a good drainage system. We need to make sure the soil is able to drain water quickly to avoid puddles that could damage the tubers. In addition, We choose a location that gets at least 6-8 hours of full sunlight a day, because sunlight is very important for optimal potato growth.
- Soil processing:
The next step, We loosened the soil to a depth of 30 cm. This is important so that the potato roots and tubers can develop well. After the soil is cultivated, We add compost or organic fertilizer to increase soil fertility. This provides enough nutrition for my plants so they can grow optimally.
- Improves drainage:
We make sure the soil has good drainage, so that water can flow smoothly without getting stagnant. If the soil is too dense or clayey, We will mix in additional organic matter or sand to improve the soil structure. This is important so that the potato tubers do not rot due to excess water.

Potato Seeds
The potato seeds selected are seeds that have started to sprout from potatoes that are healthy
• Choose healthy seeds:
We make sure to choose potatoes that are healthy and free from disease. The quality of the seeds is very important for the harvest, therefore we prefer potatoes that have started to sprout. If we use large potatoes, we will cut them into pieces, with each piece having at least 1-2 buds. This step is done so that each cutting can grow well after being planted.
• Drying the seeds before planting:
Before planting, we always make sure to let the potato cuttings sit for 1-2 days in a cool, shady place. This aims to dry the cut wounds, thereby preventing rot when the seeds are planted later.

Planting
The depth of the plant hole is around 10 – 15 cm with a distance between holes of around 30 – 40 cm.
Planting distance:
In the planting process, we make sure to make a planting hole with a depth of around 10-15 cm. So that the potato plants grow well and don't crowd each other, we provide a distance between holes of around 30-40 cm and a distance between rows of around 60-70 cm. This distance allows potato tubers to develop optimally.
Shoot position:
When planting, we make sure to place the potato pieces with the buds facing up. After that, we cover the potato pieces with soil about 5 cm thick. As the shoots grow, we will gradually add soil around the plant in a process called “hilling”. This aims to protect the tubers from sunlight and support the growth of larger tubers.

One of the processed potatoes is Potato Dodol. Potato Dodol is a variant of traditional dodol from Kerinci. The texture is chewy and a little sticky like dodol in general, but has a soft and slightly sweet taste naturally, while enriching the texture of dodol.
Potato dodol generally has a golden brown color and a sweet taste, with a fragrant aroma from coconut milk cooked with sugar. The making process takes quite a long time because the dodol mixture must be stirred continuously until it reaches the right consistency and is perfectly cooked.
